MAREES WEEKLY QUOTE
You can't pour from an empty cup. Self care is how to fill your inner cup once again.
FACT;
Your stomach, heart and brain have the same neurotransmitters
Isn't it wonderful how your body is always communicating with you??
What do you do with those messages from your body?
Messages like pain, tension, or aching, or a guttural feeling, a sense of intuitive knowingness.
Often when we feel pain or aching we go straight to the medicine cabinet, and take pills that mask the effects of communication. It's like we are telling our body to "Shut Up, I dont have time to listen ''
But is this how to lovingly connect with your mind, body and soul?
Or are you too busy or above it all to recognize the value of these messages?
When you get a message, or you notice symptoms of "something isn't right in me" what if you listened...actually connected, and heard what your magnificent human machine is saying? It may just be that I need water, not panadol..or
I feel like a good brisk walk in the fresh air.
If you want to live a long , strong, functioning, healthy, happy life, and have your mind and body work well for you, then be prepared to join your own inner team of mind, body and spirit.
Being healthy isn't about measuring your sleep patterns or heart rates, or whatever "fad diet" is in vogue.. It is about managing your own self through tuning into your specific needs and actioning them.
Here are a few easy Tips;
1. Get Outdoors
While it can be a challenge, the natural light is great for Vitamin D... this improves your general wellbeing. ..It can also be good for socializing, or mindful meandering watching life begin to show signs of spring, and fresh air in your lungs is a great free tonic.
2. Stay warm.. Keeping warm keeps you well. if you get cold your body is working to warm you rather than defend you from airborne viruses. Warm feet especially help circulation.
3. Keep your mind active, word games, short winter online courses, https://www.lyf4u.co.nz/online-programs books, anything that gets your mind thinking.
4. Exercise, I know, it's hard to motivate midwinter when your body aches, yet those endorphins are super good for you and your body...including easing those aches or pains.
5. Eat well. They say coloured foods are best, and on a visual sky of greyness, I personally crave colour..Carrots are cheap and delicious midwinter, or a slow cooked soup is very comforting. Stay hydrated, if you are using aircons remember they are dehydrating.
6. Sleep enough. Late nights play havoc on your system especially in the winter when your body wants to hibernate ..
7. Laugh, comedies are so good , those free chemical highs are the best. (I always post a comedy coach every Saturday morning).. via my FB.
8. Plan for spring. It won't last.. so write out a few fun things you have to look forward to.
