Don't wish for less problems, set your sights on grasping new solutions
Don't wish for less challenges, expand your strengths and explore your options
One of my great joys is to read and learn about others, how they overcame challenges, setbacks, or physical difficulties.
I was reading about a pioneer who basically invented the first "Onsie" (Pic attached)
Annette Kellermann Born in 1896 was an Australian professional swimmer,(amongst other things.)
She struggled to find a swimsuit that was comfortable and worked well in the water. She consequently became one of the first women to wear a one-piece bathing costume, instead of the then-accepted pantaloons that were worn at that time.
This great powerful gesture not only stood for female rights, but also inspired other women to follow her example.
In fact her "onsie" type costume was so popular that she started her own fashion line of one-piece bathing suits
But she didnt stop there- Annette then helped popularize the sport of synchronised swimming, and authored a swimming manual
And she was an advocate of health, fitness, and natural beauty throughout her life.
When you read about her youth history at the age of six, she had a weakness in her legs, which meant she had to wear what would have been very uncomfortable steel braces to help strengthen them. A little like the Forest Gump movie.(Tom Hanks wore)
The wonderful thing was that rather than allow her weakness to hold her back- her parents enrolled her in swimming classes, so by the age of 13 her legs were all but recovered.
From there at a young 15, she had mastered swimming and was able to win her first race. ..and consecutively continued to win more races, including breaking world records in her specialty.
This one woman, who wore her onsie was and is a brilliant reminder that - we are all given strengths and weaknesses...
That perhaps while life may challenge you, your only true limitations are not in your environment or situations, but by your imagination and determination to explore beyond your current conditions.
Be curious,
Be interested in what works and what doesn't
Explore your ups and downs with less emotions and more observations
Use whatever mode is strongest for you
Your ability to ask not why, but what if I....is in your grasp..reach out and take it...or in Annette case, Swim for it...
See you next time.
